Another top RPG!
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the Nintendo Switch delivers an immersive and expansive RPG experience that will appeal to fans of the genre. With a captivating storyline and colorful characters, the game takes you on an epic journey through the clouds, where political intrigues and touching relationships take center stage.

The world of Alrest is beautifully crafted, with diverse environments and breathtaking views. The vibrant and imaginative character designs add a unique element to the overall aesthetics of the game.

The 'Blade' system, in which characters collaborate with artificial companions, adds depth to the combat system. Acquiring Blades and managing their powers introduce strategic elements to the battles, challenging you to carefully assemble your team.

The soundtrack, composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, enhances the emotional impact of the story and reinforces the atmosphere of the world. The voice acting is also of good quality.

The complexity of the combat system can be quite overwhelming, which may make the game less accessible to newcomers to the RPG genre. Nevertheless, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 offers a deep and rewarding experience for lovers of epic adventures and intricate stories on the Nintendo Switch.

A fun jRPG
The story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is quite good. The game looks beautiful, has a really good soundtrack, and is quite funny at times.

The combat system could be better, as an attack gets interrupted every time you move. Also, for some characters, the English voice acting could be improved.

If you can't get enough of this game, there is also DLC available: Torna the Golden Country, which also has a physical release.

Personally, I found Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition to be a much better game and would recommend playing that one first before trying this game. That being said, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is still a very good game and I did enjoy it despite some drawbacks (especially the voice acting, but I've heard the Japanese voices are better). It managed to keep me entertained for a solid 70 hours!

Another Stunning JRPG
As Rex, you embark on a quest to uncover why people no longer inhabit the beautiful "Elysium," but instead reside on the dreadful planet of Alrest, teeming with enemies. Alrest consists of various titans used as living planets.
You're just a simple Salvager, someone who salvages and trades goods.

Soon enough, you receive a mission and encounter Pyra, a stunning woman who turns out to be a Blade. By finding them, you become a "driver," individuals who "control" the Blades. Each driver has their own Blades and bonds with them. Throughout the game, you encounter different types with various elements like wind, water, fire, and more.

These elements are essential for completing missions with your team later in the game. You can send your Blades on missions to unlock or enhance powers, or undertake specific tasks to strengthen their abilities, like defeating a certain number of enemies.

The game is so extensive that it's challenging to summarize. Similar to its predecessor, there are numerous cutscenes that shouldn't be skipped if you want to follow the story.

Stunning graphics, a sense of an open world, looting, battling—Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has everything it takes to deliver yet another fantastic JRPG in the lineup!

A few downsides, but still fantastic!
Let me start by pointing out the biggest drawback of this game, the beginning quickly becomes boring. The initial battles drag on, with very little action involved. The story has a slow start and the English voice acting, especially that of the main characters, clearly lacks experience. It's a shame because in my opinion, after the first few hours, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 surpasses the other Xenoblade games! There are still many stunning locations to explore, and somehow the music is even better than in Xenoblade 1 and X. The story takes some time to introduce all the characters and the world to you, but it improves significantly after the first few chapters. Once you acquire some key upgrades and blades, you can attack faster, making the battles much more enjoyable.

It takes around 60 hours to complete this game, and even after finishing it, there is still plenty to do. There are numerous different blades to obtain, each with unique playstyles and side quests. If you're looking for more content after finishing the main game, I highly recommend purchasing the DLC. Not only does it come with a whole new game (Torna - The Golden Country), but also additional blades to unlock and a brand-new Challenge Mode. The gameplay is even better than in the previous Xenoblade games, but there seems to have been some issues in the translation from Japanese to English, as a few tutorials are explained terribly. This game is fantastic, but it's not very beginner-friendly. If you're new to the Xenoblade series, I suggest starting with the first game.

(!Spoilers!)

At first glance, Xenoblade 1 and 2 don't seem to have much in common, but that's far from the truth.

When you climb the World Tree in the end-game of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you discover that it's actually a space station. This is the same space station belonging to Klaus and Meyneth from the first game.

You also encounter the Architect here, who is Klaus, but this is only half of him. The other half exists in a different universe, the universe of Xenoblade 1, where Shulk and his team are trying to defeat him. When Shulk defeats the evil half of Klaus, Zanza, the Klaus in the universe of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 also dies.

So, Xenoblade 1 and 2 take place simultaneously, but in different universes!
