Beautiful animation and voice acting make Wing of Darkness impressive
Wing of Darkness for the Nintendo Switch is a Mech Aerial combat game with an exciting premise. The story revolves around an alien invasion that you must stop in the game alongside your girlfriend. The animations in the cut scenes are truly beautiful and contribute to the game's atmosphere.

The gameplay in Wing of Darkness is as you would expect from an aerial mech combat game. You control a huge, flying mech suit and take on various missions. The goal varies per mission, but mostly involves a lot of shooting. At the beginning of each mission, you can choose from three different weapons, but unfortunately, there isn't much variety in how these weapons function. Once in the mission, you go all out! You encounter different enemies, ranging from small to large opponents. You are very mobile and fast, and the boost function adds an extra thrill. Sometimes you have to take out small enemies, and other times you face off against a huge bomber ship.

A downside is that you don't receive many audio or visual cues to see if you're hitting the enemies. This can make it difficult at times to know if you're actually causing damage. Additionally, there isn't much side content or bonus material. You only have the main missions, without extra mechs or DLCs.

The cut scenes are fully voiced in Japanese and are accompanied by beautiful animations. This creates an immersive experience. In short, I found this game direct and to the point with good voice acting and stunning animations. The gameplay was satisfying when using the right weapons, otherwise, it felt like you weren't dealing any damage.
