Engaging Singleplayer & Perfect Multiplayer
Smash Ultimate is THE game everyone should have for the Switch.

If you're solely interested in the singleplayer mode, the game will keep you busy for a long time. World of Light will take around 20 hours to complete, and even after that, you can still collect all the spirits and attempt over 100 challenges.

The main reason why I recommend this game to everyone is, of course, the multiplayer. Looking solely at the offline multiplayer, the game is almost perfect. With over 70 characters, 100 stages, and even more to unlock if you purchase the DLC. Apart from the standard way to play Smash Bros, there are plenty of alternatives: you can play with HP in special smash or have each stock as a different character thanks to squad strikes. The balance between all characters is exceptionally well done in this game. There are no characters that are ridiculously strong or "overpowered" in 1v1s, unlike Meta Knight in Brawl or Bayonetta in the 3DS or Wii U. In short, Smash Ultimate is nearly perfect... when playing locally.

Unfortunately, I can't give the same praise to the online options in this game. Firstly, the game lags a lot or your character's actions happen seconds after you press the buttons. This is almost unavoidable, whether you're playing with two, four, someone from America, or even someone from your own city. Secondly, your options are simply limited. For instance, you can't play any squad strike mode online. When playing on quickplay, you also can't switch characters without leaving your opponent. And if you want to play with friends, you have to use the cumbersome arena system. Playing online can be frustrating, but despite all these drawbacks, I still managed to have a lot of fun playing with my friends or strangers.

Whether you enjoy playing the game with eight players using items or on Final Destination to prove your skills, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has something for everyone. If you own a Switch, this is the game I highly recommend.

Worthy of the Title
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brings back all characters from previous games and adds a whole lot more. It's proof of the effort and work put into this game that everything is balanced. The game is fun with friends, has a good single-player mode, and even a story mode to keep your thumbs busy.

Just create a whacky custom stage and throw in some friends, and you'll know exactly what I mean. The only real issue with the game is that you need fairly good internet to have a good online experience. This may not be the best Smash Bros., but it's definitely the ultimate Smash Bros.

Smash Online, and My Own Experience
With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you can easily play Super Smash Bros. with your friends on a portable console, whether online or solo. You also don't necessarily have to pay for Nintendo Switch Online to play with friends who are nearby.

Simply select 'local wireless' in the right black bar. Now you can play with friends without needing Nintendo Switch Online. If you do have Nintendo Switch Online, you can create an arena and set a password to play specifically with people who are online.

For me personally, this is the first Smash game I have ever bought, although I did play Smash Bros on the Wii at a friend's place in the past. The game has improved a lot and there are so many more fun characters to choose from, including DLC that you can buy all at once or separately if you don't want them all.

There is a lot of content to dive into, and I myself have around 750 hours logged because I often played Smash with classmates on a school whiteboard. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy playing multiplayer games.

Worth Every Penny
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is absolutely worth it. It's a fighting game that's not too difficult to learn, yet has a lot of depth. With the vast amount of characters, the gameplay remains diverse as there are so many possible match-ups.

Of course, the game is most enjoyable when playing against others, similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Party Superstars. However, despite this, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still offers a lengthy single-player world. This world does tend to get a bit repetitive, but fortunately, the fighting itself is so enjoyable that it hardly matters.

The music is fantastic and adds a lot to the experience. The same goes for the art style, especially in the single-player world. I mentioned earlier the vast variety of different characters. This ensures there's something for everyone. Personally, I find playing as regular Link the most enjoyable; his special attack is very useful.

And I haven't even touched on the online mode yet. Unfortunately, like many other Switch games, the online mode isn't very good. The Switch is known for its mediocre online services, and this game is no exception. Nevertheless, the online mode is manageable if you can tolerate some slight lag.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a somewhat easy-to-learn fighting game with a diverse selection of enjoyable characters and a large amount of single-player content. In my opinion, this game is worth every penny.

The perfect smash bros. game
This game takes everything the previous games did and perfects it. All characters from the previous games are playable along with some new icons. The game is perfect for playing with multiple people. It's easy for new players to understand and still fun for older players of the series.
If you're alone, there's just a little less to do. There is an adventure mode to keep you busy, but there are no more trophies like in the previous games. Nevertheless, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a must-have!

Most playable characters
This new installment of the Smash series is the best one yet and features the most playable characters. If you want even more characters, there is also DLC available for separate purchase.

Smash against friends and family or challenge people online. Collect the numerous spirits and play the single player mode: World of Light. You begin with only a few characters, the rest you have to unlock. A game with plenty to do that will keep you entertained and is enjoyable in both single and multiplayer modes.

Very fun game
Yes, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is here! You can become and unlock various characters. And now there are also new characters such as Pac-Man, Sonic, Daisy, and Peach, in addition to the old characters. The downside to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is that you have to unlock the characters, but it is indeed a very fun game. I recommend playing this game.

Monado Max

If you want to play online, you may have noticed that there isn't a direct option to play with friends in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. So, how do you do this?

First, you need to go to the Battle Arenas. One of you should create a room or arena. If you have each other's friend codes, you can choose to make the room accessible only to friends. If not, you can set a password and share it with the people you want to play with. Once the room is created, your friends should either go to "friends' rooms" or search by ID. You can find the ID by pressing the arena symbol in the top left corner.

Personal tip:
How can I unlock all characters faster in Smash Ultimate?
Monado Max
3034
18 jaar
Smash Ultimate not only has the most characters of any Smash game, but also the most unlockable characters. With around 60 characters to unlock, you'll be busy for quite a while. Fortunately, the video below provides two methods to speed this up. Both methods have specific sequences in which characters are unlocked, so if you're looking to unlock a particular character, you can check both and see which one allows you to unlock your desired character first.

- The first method is through Classic Mode (explained from 1:28). The order in which you can unlock characters in this mode depends on which character you use to complete Classic Mode. The 8 characters you start with have a "sequence" for unlocking other characters. For example, if you complete it for the first time with Mario, you'll face Sonic to unlock him. If you then complete Classic Mode a second time with either Mario or Sonic, you'll unlock the next character in the sequence, which is Bayonetta. What happens if you choose randomly or reach the end of a sequence? Simple, there’s a unique line for when you complete Classic with a random character, and if you reach the end of another line, you'll unlock a character from that sequence. You can find the sequences for all characters in the video at 2:24.

- The second method is by playing regular matches (explained from 3:14). There are two rules here. First, you can only fight other characters after you've covered a certain distance, and second, there must be a 10-minute gap between the moments you unlock characters. There’s a way to work around this; it will take about half an hour to do this once, but you can unlock around 40 characters at once. Set the rules so that a match lasts 20 minutes and everyone has 1 life. Choose an Omega or Battlefield stage. Make Player 2 either a level 1 computer or a second human player. Keep moving left and right throughout the match. This is an important part: defeat your opponent in the last minute! If you control the second player yourself, you can easily throw them off the stage, but if it's a computer, it would be wise to deal some damage early on so you can throw them off more easily later. After this match, you'll be able to unlock a character. Here’s another crucial part: once the match is over, go to the home menu. When you reach the screen where you can choose stages, close the game and restart it. Start another match and try to lose as quickly as possible. You’ll then be able to unlock a character right away, as you’ve been moving around so much and can avoid the 10-minute wait by closing the game from the home menu. Just like with Classic Mode, there is a sequence, which you can find at 9:17.
