Super duper way more than part 1!
There's a funny story in the game, where you have to build Peach's castle. Along the path to the castle, you encounter all sorts of fun characters like Toads, Piranha Plants, and a talking block. They give you really fun tasks that get progressively harder. This way, you earn money to further build the castle.

There are so many new possibilities for building your levels compared to Super Mario Maker 1. Koopa Troopa in a car, angry sun, and various bosses like all the Koopalings and Pom Pom. Different colored pipes, parachutes, Zelda sword, and so much more, making the game very enjoyable and diverse.

Now you can create your own entire world where you can add all kinds of levels. You can create levels like snowy levels with Super Mario Bros or a haunted house in Super Mario 3D World!

Trying out levels made by others is always a lot of fun too. The levels are often very original, like a spot the difference level. I usually do these together with my dad and brother.

Game with potential for the creative or patient person.
In Super Mario Maker 2, you can of course create your own levels. If you're not very creative or just want to play, the game offers a decent single-player mode (around 8 hours of levels) made by Nintendo.

However, as a non-creator, I don't find this game very interesting. You need an Online subscription to play other people's levels. Levels created by others can be very creative, but also very bad and frustrating. Finding the right levels for your play style can be quite difficult at times. Even though the levels are generally of better quality than in Super Mario Maker 1 (because now you can dislike levels), it's still not always easy to find great levels. It often feels like a random assortment of levels, rather than a cohesive whole. And of course, it isn't, because everything revolves around individual levels.

Nintendo has added "worlds" in free updates where you can connect multiple levels together as a sort of world. It had a lot of potential, but finding good worlds is a nightmare.

That's why I actually only recommend this game for people who either don't mind alternating between good and bad levels or for creators who want to unleash their creativity.

If you don't fall into those categories and just want to play cool Mario levels, then simply get Mario 3D World or New Super Mario Bros Switch edition.

Super Mario Maker 2 is a great game for young and old!
Super Mario Maker 2 is very versatile. You can play levels, but also create fun levels yourself. Let's talk about the building aspect first. Super Mario Maker 2 offers an even larger selection of items and level components than Super Mario Maker for the Nintendo Wii U. You can also play other people's levels, which is super fun because people can get really creative. There's also a new online mode where you can play with 3 other players or compete against 3 players. It's super fun and truly a game we've been needing for a long time. I definitely recommend this game.

Not all Power-ups can be used equally for building levels. Two of them need to be unlocked first in the Story Mode of Super Mario Maker 2 by completing the jobs listed below.

Builder Hammer (3D World Style Only)	Complete the job "Meowser Showdown!" and watch the credits.
