Too little depth and challenge for veterans
When I started playing RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures on the Nintendo Switch, I had high expectations due to my previous experiences with the series. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was soon dampened. The game tries to bring the classic theme park simulation to the Switch, but in my opinion, it doesn't really succeed. The controls are simple and the setup is accessible, making the game ideal for casual gamers. But if you, like me, are looking for the depth and complexity that the series is known for, you'll be disappointed.
Building attractions and managing the park goes smoothly, I must admit. But the fun I used to get from it is now nowhere to be found. The game offers extremely limited options and a lack of challenge, which makes it quickly monotonous. Graphically, the game looks colourful, but the animations and details leave much to be desired. It's as if the magic I remember from the older titles is missing here.
For newcomers, RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures can be a decent entry point into the genre, but if you're a veteran of the series, like me, it feels far too simplistic. The game lacks the charm and complexity that made the older titles so addictive. It's a shame, as I think there was so much more potential.
