A quite unique pokémon experience.
Pokkén Tournament DX is a 3D 1-vs-1 fighting game with Pokémon, a fairly recent rendition of a quite popular gaming style with one of the most famous franchises.

Is it any good? Actually, it is, very good indeed.

Visually, it's probably the best of any Pokémon game. For some, maybe not too challenging, but the models and especially certain animations are quite spectacular.

The gameplay is also very action-packed. In 3D, you mainly battle the opponent with long-range attacks, and if you manage to hit your enemy enough, the game switches to a 2D form, where short-range attacks and combos are more common. These two movesets for each Pokémon blend quite well together.

There's also a sort of rock-paper-scissors system. There are normal attacks, grab attacks, and counter attacks. Normal attacks are self-explanatory, counter attacks charge up and absorb normal attacks when they do, and grab attacks start with a short-range grab, followed by an attack. Normal attacks break grab attacks, but a grab against a counter attack is extra strong.

Overall, the gameplay is strong, and the visuals are too. The only downsides are that there are few Pokémon to choose from and the story is almost non-existent.

Apart from that, I find it a must-have for any Pokémon fan who enjoys fighting games a bit.

A fun Pokémon spin-off
Pokkén Tournament is a mix of Pokémon and the Tekken games. It's a fun experience to see your Pokémon fighting in real-time and the graphics look really good too.
I did find it a bit challenging to master all the moves and combos.
You can follow a single-player storyline or compete against other players in multiplayer mode. Multiplayer can be played locally or online.
There is also some DLC available if you want to add some extra fighters.
Definitely worth a try and highly recommended if you enjoy fighting games!
