With new Pokémon and new evolution methods, there are of course also new ways to evolve them. This table covers all the new evolution methods.
However, I would first like to discuss 3 exceptions or evolution methods shared by multiple Pokémon:
- Pokémon that normally evolve by trading (e.g., Kadabra, Haunter) can now also evolve using the "Linking Cord" item, so trading is not necessary. These can occasionally be found in Space Time Distortions, but you can also collect points by finding and picking up other players' satchels in the various overworld regions. You can then exchange the points with the woman at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. A Linking Cord costs 1000 points.
- Nosepass has an evolution method that closely resembles its old one, as well as a second, new evolution method. Take your Nosepass to the Coronet Highlands or give it a Thunder Stone. However, I strongly recommend the first method, as Evolution Stones are not particularly easy to come by (at least not without effort, cost, and time), and the first method requires no items and can always be done.
- You will notice that some new Hisuian Forms are missing from the table below (such as Zorua and Petilil); this is because they still use the same evolution method as their non-Hisuian counterparts.
The other methods are a bit clearer in a table:
Original Pokémon: | Evolves into: | Method: |
Hisuian Qwilfish | Overqwil | Use the move Barb Barrage 20 times in the strong-style version. |
Hisuian Sneasel | Sneasler | Use the Razor Claw item during the day. When you catch/defeat a Sneasel, it has a chance to drop the item. |
Hisuian Basculin | Basculegion | Use moves that deal damage to Basculin itself (like Double Edge) and inflict at least 294 damage without causing Basculin to faint; the damage accumulates between battles, and it needs healing items to keep Basculin alive. |
Stantler | Wyrdeer | Use the move Psyshield Bash 20 times in the agile-style version. |
Scyther | Kleavor | Use a Black Augurite item; you receive one as a reward for the request: "A Nosepass to Guide the Way." |
Hisuian Voltorb | Hisuian Electrode | Use a leaf stone. This can be obtained in various ways, such as through Space Time Distortions. |
Ursaring | Ursaluna | Use a Peat Block during a full moon. The request "Gone Astray...in the Icelands" rewards you with this item. |
