Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the expanded version of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U released in 2014.
In Mario Kart, you race against each other in various Cups. Before the race, the player can choose a character and customize their own kart/bike. Each Cup consists of 4 different tracks. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, there are a total of 12 Cups (so 48 different tracks). All Cups are available in 5 different levels: 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, 150cc Mirrored, and 200cc. There is a suitable level for every player! During the race, you can pick up items and coins. These items can be used to hinder opponents or to get a speed boost yourself.

Despite the game being practically the same as for the Wii U, many new features have been added. All characters/tracks from the Wii U DLC are now included in the game by default. The Battle Mode has also received a significant upgrade. The Wii U version had a very disappointing Battle Mode. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe offers 5 different game modes and new tracks to play them on; a major upgrade.
For young or casual drivers, Smart Steering has been added to the game. With Smart Steering, the game assists in steering the kart when you are about to drive off the track (very handy if you keep falling off at Rainbow Road). Smart Steering can be toggled on or off for each player.
If you have Nintendo Switch Online, you can also play with up to 2 players (locally) against players from around the world.
I definitely consider Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a must-have for every Switch owner. It is suitable for all ages and various skill levels. Great upgrade over the Wii U version
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an upgraded version of the Mario Kart 8 released on the Wii U. Does this mean that people who have already played the game on the Wii U should skip it on the Switch? Absolutely not!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes all the DLC released for the Wii U version. On top of that, it also adds several beloved characters, including King Boo, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr, and the Inklings from Splatoon.
However, the biggest upgrade can be found not in the characters, but in the completely new battle mode. The battle mode on the Wii U was quite mediocre, with only one mode and limited to tracks from the game itself. Here in 8 Deluxe, you have a great variety to choose from, a total of 5 modes and 8 battle arenas specifically designed for the battle mode, 4 new ones and 4 from older games in the series. Cijfer:

When the game was first released on the Switch, I played it a lot and thought I would be done with it after a good 100 hours. But recently, my sister also got a Nintendo Switch and we play it together online regularly!
Nintendo has recently released a large DLC pack, which is free for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. This pack adds 48 tracks to the game, and a number of new characters including Funky Kong, the favorite from Mario Kart Wii. If you have Nintendo online, you can also race against players from all over the world. What I actually find a bit disappointing is that all characters, except for Gold Mario, are available from the start, so you don't have to unlock them. Some may find this great, but personally, I always enjoyed unlocking the characters.
Nevertheless, a fantastic Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with fun tracks and a lot of characters. Many of the DLC characters aren't even Mario characters! You can race as an Inkling, a Villager, Isabelle, or even as Link!

This is a fun Mario Kart game that has also added new things to the series, but I'm not completely convinced. Racing in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is enjoyable and everything works perfectly, but for me, there's something missing in terms of being able to unlock things, which makes the game quickly become boring. Everything is given to you right from the start (except for the things you can get with the coins), and I find that a bit disappointing. However, this doesn't take away from the fact that it's a good game if you enjoy racing games. The tracks are all very beautiful, and you can also purchase extra DLC if you want even more tracks, so in that sense, this is the best Mario Kart if you love a variety of tracks. It's also a good Mario Kart to play with friends who are not used to playing Mario Kart, thanks to the steering assist feature. But I miss being able to unlock characters or tracks through racing itself, not just by collecting coins (like in the earlier games). All in all, it's a fun racing game, but personally, I feel that Mario Kart Wii is the better one in the series, so if you like this game, you might also want to give Mario Kart Wii a try. Cijfer:

Playing with friends is always thrilling until the finish line, just as you would expect from Mario Kart. You can play both locally and online. Locally, you can play split-screen on a big TV, or each on their own Switch. Especially the latter results in a lot of shouting and pushing in the living room, which, to me, encapsulates the ultimate Mario Kart experience.
When playing alone, it feels less necessary to complete every cup since all tracks are available right from the start. This has both advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, you can immediately enjoy all the tracks, but on the other hand, you might miss the satisfaction of unlocking new ones.

A must-have!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe absolutely features the best tracks from the older Mario Kart games, and fortunately, more tracks are constantly being added through DLC. Compared to Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, the Nintendo Switch version has significantly improved the Battle Mode and introduced fun new characters.

For multiple players
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a super fun game that you can play with multiple players. You can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 1-4 players, so it's a real family game. For a single player, you can play circuits and then you can choose between many different cc's. You can choose between 50cc, where you drive quite slowly. Then there's 100cc, where you drive faster. And then there's also 150cc, where you drive very fast. Finally, there's mirror mode, where all levels are mirrored. If you want to play with multiple people, you can also race, but I would actually choose Battle Mode. Then you can choose different mini-games. Amazing controls

Best version of Mario Kart to date
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the game that everyone should have on the Switch. It's simply a straightforward game that can bring joy to anyone of any age. The graphics in this version are very beautiful compared to their previous games.

The last time I had a lot of fun with Mario Kart was with Mario Kart on the DS and Mario Kart on the 3DS. Now that it's back on the Switch, the graphics are truly incomparable in terms of colors, effects, and overall cleanliness, and it's just as fun as it used to be.
It's a shame that you now have to purchase online play to race with others around the world, which used to be free on the 3DS.
