Breathtaking graphic style and challenging gameplay in Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight on the Nintendo Switch is, in my opinion, a fantastic metroidvania experience that you absolutely must not miss! The game takes you on an immersive journey through the dark and mysterious world of Hallownest. The graphic style is breathtaking, with beautifully hand-drawn environments that create a unique, atmospheric setting. During my play sessions, I was repeatedly left in awe of the visual splendor. The gameplay is challenging yet fair, with intuitive controls that make exploring the vast areas and battling enemies feel seamless.

What makes Hollow Knight truly special is the challenge of the combat. Each enemy has its own unique attacks and patterns, making the battles tactical and exciting. It feels like an achievement to defeat each foe, and the satisfaction is immense. Moreover, there are countless upgrades and abilities to discover, such as new spells and charms, allowing you to explore further and adapt your playstyle. This is exactly what metroidvania games are known for, and Hollow Knight excels at it as one of the very best!

Holy moly what a game

What a game. When a friend told me about this game, I didn't have very high expectations. It looked like a pretty decent 2D platformer, but nothing more.

But in the end, I decided to give the game a try, which might be the best gaming-related decision I've ever made.

The art style is fairly simple, but it looks good. The controls. Oh, the controls. What amazing controls. Again, the controls seem quite simple, but it quickly turns out not to be the case, as you can unlock multiple abilities. The controls feel great and fit well with the art style.

Then there's the story. The story isn't very clear when you first play the game. For example, I didn't understand much more than that there was some kind of infection.

But the more you play the game, the more secrets you uncover, and the more you look up online about the lore, the clearer it becomes.

Everything makes sense, there's a reason behind everything you do in the story, and even if you don't know the full lore, the story is still, I can't really explain it. There's something about the story that's so... special. It's the kind of story that keeps you up at night, because you can't stop thinking about it.

As someone who mainly plays Mario games and was used to stories that consist of "Princess kidnapped, go save her," I can only say that Hollow Knight has an absolutely amazing story, the kind of story I've never experienced before.

No matter how good this game is, there are some minor issues. The pacing in the beginning isn't great and it's annoying how long it takes to get a map, but again, these are just minor issues.

Something else I haven't mentioned that doesn't affect how enjoyable the actual game is, but still puts into perspective how impressive Hollow Knight is, is that the game was made in just over three years... By only three people!

This game, better than most triple A games made by hundreds of people, was made by three people in three years.
