Must-have for AC Enthusiasts
This game includes 2 titles from the AC collection, namely Black Flag and Rogue.
I mainly bought Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection for Black Flag, which I have spent hours playing on the PlayStation. This game in handheld mode was a must-have for me, and it did not disappoint. Conquering islands, searching for treasure chests, defeating enemies, ... a true pirate game. With your own boat that you can upgrade, you can battle against different ships to capture goods needed for upgrades, quests, or to sell. The map is very large, and there is so much to discover in this open world, both at sea and on land. A must-have for AC lovers. The rest are just remakes from other platforms with nothing added to them.

Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection for the Nintendo Switch offers a package with two beloved games from the series: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Both titles combine historical adventures with open-world gameplay, allowing you to explore and fight both on land and at sea.

Black Flag puts you in the role of Edward Kenway, a pirate who wreaks havoc in the Caribbean. The game is packed with naval battles, pirate fights, and an engaging storyline that perfectly captures the golden age of piracy. The gameplay revolves around exploring the open world, both at sea and on land. You can use your ship, the Jackdaw, to sail through the Caribbean, attack and board enemy ships, and search for hidden treasures on islands. The naval combat is one of the highlights and adds a strategic element as you have to pay attention to various factors such as wind direction, cannon positions, and timing. On land, you can engage in traditional Assassin’s Creed missions, such as stealth, parkour, and taking down enemies with your hidden blade. There’s also plenty of room to explore small villages, complete side quests, and discover the world around you. The pirate theme comes through strongly in every aspect of the gameplay, from singing shanties on board to living the free, rebellious life of a pirate.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue offers a slightly more compact adventure but with an interesting twist. You play as Shay Cormac, an Assassin who switches to the Templars, which means you’ll be taking on your former brothers and learning to predict their movements. The gameplay mechanics are similar in many ways to those of Black Flag: you also get a ship, the Morrigan, and can participate in naval battles and explore the northern landscape. What makes Rogue unique, however, is that you must be on the lookout for enemy Assassins trying to sneak up on you. You also explore colder areas, such as the North Atlantic waters and parts of North America, which adds variety to the environments.

The Switch version runs surprisingly smoothly with customised controls and improved graphics for handheld gameplay. Both games work well in handheld mode, although there are occasional minor frame drops. The collection offers a substantial amount of content, including DLC, and is a fantastic choice for both newcomers and fans of the series.
