In terms of gameplay, it stays true to the original. You need to deploy troops like tanks, planes, and infantry wisely to defeat enemy armies and capture control points. Each Commanding Officer brings unique abilities, requiring you to adjust your strategy for each mission. The difficulty level offers enough challenge, but it's accessible enough that both newcomers and veterans will enjoy the game.
It is a bit disappointing that there are no major innovations. The games are essentially unchanged, which is of course a positive since they were and still are excellent. However, it would have been nice if some new content had been added.
What has been added is the option for online multiplayer. This allows you to take on your friends on the battlefield, leading to some fun moments.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a successful remake that retains the essence of the original games and works perfectly on the Switch. Definitely a recommendation if you have even a slight interest in strategy games.
